Why Tectonic?

The origin of the word relates to building and architecture. It now most commonly appears in reference to the tectonic activity of the earth, by which whole mountain ranges are forced into creation by colliding continental plates. These movements take place slowly and gradually, but culminate in explosive releases of energy and towering peaks.

Paddy Atkinson

Head Coach

I've raced bikes off road since 2014 and been in the elite category since 2017, culminating in representing Team GB in consecutive marathon MTB world championships, 2022 and 2023. Alongside my core programme I've raced and won criteriums, cyclo-cross, adventure races, ultra-endurance MTB, time trials and hill-climbs.

I’ve had many coaches whose guidance I’m immensely grateful for, but I’ve found my best success in racing after switching to self-coaching in 2018.

Off the bike I've gained a bachelor's degree in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Surrey, alongside CIMPSA recognised Personal Trainer and Exercise Referral qualifications, and am a member of the Royal Society for Public Health.

Following my education I entered the clinical world as a Health and Wellbeing Physiologist, but have always maintained a passion for performance sport and am excited to be returning to this through coaching.

In my spare time I love nothing more than finding the limits of tyres and getting sketchy on enduro bikes, then spending the evening cooking food from across the world.
